‘Tis the Season to Keep It Local, Yokels!

Keep It Local

Is this a motley crew or what?!?  It’s an image of the Fitzgerald’s staff (minus Michael and me) taken by one of our customers, local photographer, Jonathan Selkowitz.  We are gearing up for Black Friday and the upcoming Holiday Buying Season. Teton County, ID and Teton County, WY are devoid of any Walmarts or Targets or Best Buys, but it is a given that there will be lots of sales starting Friday in both valleys.  What does this mean?  This means that we all have a great opportunity, right here and now, to spend our money locally.

What does “Keep It Local” really mean?  It means buying products and services that are offered right here in the Tetons and its surrounding towns.  It means supporting our local business persons and their dedicated employees.  Why? Because it absolutely, positively makes sense.  And, because “buying local” circulates around the moola that we make in our valleys.  How?

1. I cash my paycheck from Fitzy’s on a Friday afternoon.

2. I go out to a local restaurant that evening and give my waiter a good tip.

3. The next morning, my waiter pools his tip money and buys a coffee at the Nine Bar and a new bike helmet.

4. Thus, the “spread the local love” cycle begins again.

I’ve paid it forward and he’s paid it forward.  I get a great meal, consisting of local greens, meat and brew, and he gets a delicious coffee and a helmet to protect his noggin.  All is right in the world!  Isn’t it?  Sounds corny, but I believe it is.

At Fitzgerald’s, we truly appreciate all the “local love” that you have given us over the years, and in particular, during 2013. Thank you, gracias, merci, danke, grazie, 谢谢 (xie xie), ありがとう(arigatou), धन्यवाद (dhan’yavāda), and شكرا.  To further celebrate your generosity, we are having a kick-butt Black Friday Sale that begins on Friday, November 29 at 9 a.m. and extends through our online Cyber Monday Sale.  Stay tuned to Fitzgerald’s Bicycles for all the details on how you can save big and go home happy.  Cheers!
